On Wednesday, August 17, LSO hosted its annual Golf Classic at Copper Creek. This event, which sells out year after year, attracts 140+ professionals from a diverse array of organizations, and presents a key sponsorship opportunity to reach influencers in Ontario's life sciences sector. Here's a glimpse of this year's successful tournament:

Best Score went to the foursome from Canadian Pharmaceutical Distribution Network: Sav DiPasquale, Kevin Gillies, Karl Frank, and Brian Good.

Our trivia winners were the ladies from Bereskin & Parr LLP: Patricia Folkins, Nancy Raimondi, Joyce Lin, and Rima Al-Awar. They also received the distinction of Most Honest Team (also affectionately known as "worst score").

Karen Couldrey from the Ernst & Young team took home Women's Longest Drive, while Sav DiPasquale earned this distinction in the men's category.

And, for Closest to the Pin, our winners were Jan Sedgeworth (Intrinsik Health Sciences Inc.) and Michael Israels (CCRM) in the women's and men's categories, respectively.

Golfers were treated to a networking reception and luncheon, including a raffle and silent auction, with golf equipment, sports memorabilia, art, gift certificates, electronics, and more up for grabs.

Our Early Bird Winners also went home with an extra something special:

Sanofi Genzyme: Round for Two at Copper Creek

AstraZeneca: Round for Two at Copper Creek

Dalton Pharma: Policy Forum ticket

Capping off a fantastic day, Sanofi Biogenius GTA winner Miranda Li gave a fascinating presentation detailing her research on suicide gene systems. Li, a Gr. 11 student, has worked at the Nagy lab at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute for the past year.

Our Golf Classic is a key fundraiser for LSO, directly supporting our mentorship program, networking nights, and breakfast meetings. We're grateful for the generous contributions of all our sponsors, donors, and those who help make this event a success through their attendance and volunteer work.

We also wish to thank all the donors who generously contributed to our raffle, silent auction, and golfer goodie bags. Click here to see a full list of our sponsors and donors.

Last but not least, we'd like to recognize the members of our Golf Committee, who worked behind the scenes to make this event run smoothly: John Goudey (Chair), Tim Peters, John Kelly, Louis Parisio, Bruno Maruzzo, Martin Kopp, Ron Hosking, Brian Craig, Sue Munro, Jason Field, and Melissa Hughes.

Stay tuned for details on our 2017 tournament. In the meantime, for information on sponsorship opportunities, please phone the LSO office at 416-426-7293.

Thank you for your support, and we hope to see you next year!
